When we think of power, a blog is the last connection that comes to mind.  Makes sense, especially in terms of the times.  Sadly, our world is in an intense state of unrest.  Most recently, the crisis in the Ukraine is yet another example of when power is misused at the expense of others.  Let’s pause and really take this in.  We’re all connected, even in these tumultuous times. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe tells us, “In nature we never see anything isolated, but everything in connection with something else which is before it, beside it, under it and over it.” A simple blog can help us reset.

The Power of Stillness

Be still, for just a moment.  Amazingly, if we stop moving, our worlds will change.  At times, we think motion is the way to solve things.  However, the opposite is true.  We can only return to center when we are silent and still. Then we listen and are able to hear.  Fear, that most challenging emotion, can step into the space where disconnection resides.  The antidote is courage. Power, in it’s courageous form, is power with, not power over. At it’s root, power takes vulnerability of some kind to build connections with your community. No one wants a fake connection.

Stillness, and Silence

To be still, simply cease constant motion.  Stillness, in its truest form, helps us increase our ability to be aware. This allows us to rest in silence.   Silence is the space that houses our center and where courage grows.  Courage allows us to tap into our values, skills, and talents. Be courageous for yourself first, then for all other souls, especially in the Ukraine.  Even if it is only for a moment, find the time and space to be with each other in spirit and stillness.
